Wolverhampton's Mayor, Councillor Christine Mills, hosted a lunch in her parlour to mark the conferment of an Honorary Aldermanship on former councillor Robert Hart. The title was awarded to Mr. Hart last December, after he retired from 33 years of service on Wolverhampton City Council, and he followed his brother Alan in becoming an Honorary Alderman as well as a former Mayor of the city. Among the dignitaries celebrating his achievement were other Honorary Aldermen George Howells and Norman Davies "Robert richly deserves this honour," said the Mayor. "He has served this city with distinction, and I am absolutely delighted to be hosting this happy event." "I've enjoyed the break from being a councillor," said Mr. Hart, " so I can't say I've missed being in office since I retired, but It's great to be back here today, and to still feel part of an organisation with which I've had such a long association." |
